Considerable devotion and courage in the MIDDLE EAST 1942.
“Capt BLAMEY was posted to an Artillery Field Regiment at the inception of the A.I.F. in Oct 1939. Later, he was appointed Liaison Officer on H.Q. 1 Aust Corps, and, as such, served throughout the campaign in Greece. During this period, in particular, he displayed considerable devotion to duty and courage and did not spare himself in his endeavour to carry out his arduous duties. On many occasions, he was subjected to bombing and dive-bombing attacks by the enemy and, by his coolness and level-headedness in these tense moments, set a very high standard of conduct for those associated with him to emulate. Later, Capt BLAMEY was appointed Personal Assistant to the Deputy Commander-in-Chief during which period he relieved the latter of the volume of detail associated with that appointment. His application to duty, in supplying information required and desired, together with his tact and diplomacy, have been of an outstanding quality throughout.” – Gazetted Citation.
