Outstanding gallantry SOWOM, WEWAK April/Sept 1945.
“Lt. Morley as FOO D Coy 2/3 Aust Inf Bn on 25 April 1945, grenaded an enemy HMG post with a platoon commander and captured the HMG in Sowom-Wewak area. On 16 March as FOO B Coy 2/2 Aust Inf Bn at Ultan, and 22 March as FOO A Coy 2/2 Aust Inf Bn at TOKOKU Mountain Pass, he voluntarily moved forward under fire and obtained information which led to the defeat of the enemy units. He advanced under fire on three occasions in the area south of Boiken and his observations and handling of fire neutralised the targets. Lt. Morley’s courage, skill and coolness was an inspiration to all.” – Gazetted Citation.
